Hi everyone! I am excited to be able to share this recipe with you because it is SUPER EASY and of course... extremely delicious. Like most of my recipes, you can get away with using the most simplest ingredients but still create a fantastic gustatory experience. Today's recipe is from the blog PrettySimpleSweet, however, I embellished with some strawberry jello.
INGREDIENTS
Panna Cotta
- 2 1/4 teaspoons powdered gelatin (or 7 gelatin sheets - this is what my supermarket had)
- 2 cups (480ml) heavy cream (make sure that your cream is not already sweetened - for example, "whipping" cream may have added flavors).
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 vanilla bean or 1tsp pure vanilla extract
Strawberry Jello
- Strawberry jello powder (from your local grocery store)
- Raspberries
- Strawberries
TOOLS
- Small bowls (preferably glass or transparent so you can see those beautiful layers) serving 1 person each.
- Baking pan (wide enough so that when the jello spreads out, its height is around 1~2 cm)
- Whisk
- Pans
Directions
Panna Cotta
1. Soak your gelatin in water for around 5-10 mins.
2. In a pan, combine the cream, sugar, and vanilla. Bring this to a boil on medium heat until all the sugar has dissolved.
3. Now take the pan off the stove and add in your "softened" gelatin. Make sure you keep stirring until the gelatin melts in completely. If not, warm the mixture up again for a few minutes (not to a boil though). I personally was extra careful and put my panna cotta mixture through a sieve to make sure there were no clumps.
4. Divide the mixture into bowls and place in the fridge to chill for at least 1 to 2 hours (will vary depending on how much you poured into each bowl).
Strawberry Jello
1. HONESTLY. THIS IS SO EASY. Just buy a packet of strawberry jello and follow the instructions (usually on the back). All I had to do for my jello was pour hot water!
2. Now slice some strawberries so that the inner part is clearly visible (more aesthetically pleasing) and mix with some raspberries.
3. Voila! Simply place everything together (jello mixture, strawberry slices, raspberry) in a baking pan and stick it in the fridge. Again, the time will vary depending on how much jello you or how thick the jello is in your container. Mine was around 1 to 2cm and firmed up fairly quick.
5. When cooled, cut the jello into strips (look at the image below). Please don't completely mush it up, because we want that nice, bouncy texture in our mouths!
Serving Directions: Don't add the jello onto the panna cotta until you are actually serving. Keep everything fresh in the fridge whilst you wait for your guests (or yourself) to devour everything up! Yum!
Thanks for watching once again! I had so much fun making this and I hope you do too. Check me out on instagram: @nhighteaters. DM or email if you have any questions! Love, Nicole.
